2016-2017 Marching Band Staff
Director- Josh Morgan
Mr. Morgan is currently the Director of Bands at Southern Alamance High School in Graham, North Carolina. Mr. Morgan is a 2004 graduate of Ledford High School and a 2008 graduate of Elon University where he received his B.S. in Music Education. Prior to joining the SAHS staff, Mr. Morgan taught band and chorus for two years in Forsyth County, NC. This is his sixth year as director of instrumental ensembles including the Marching Patriots, Wind Ensemble, Southern Swing (Southern’s Jazz Band), Percussion Ensemble, as well as AP Music Theory. During his time at Southern Alamance, the Marching Band has received many first place finishes and numerous ratings of superior and excellent. The Wind Ensemble has received Superior ratings at every festival attended with Grade IV and V music. Mr. Morgan completed his graduate studies in August, 2013 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a M.M. in Music with a concentration in Education.
Mr. Morgan has been nominated to serve as the Clinic Chair for the Central Region Jazz Honors Band (2015-Present) as well as the Co-Clinic Chair for the Central District Honors Band (2015-2016). He is also the President-Elect for the Central Region for Jazz and will serve his term as President in 2018-2019.
Mr. Morgan was awarded the ASBDA Edgar Q. Rooker Encore Award in 2015. The Ed Rooker Encore Awards are recognitions sponsored and presented by the North Carolina Chapter of the American School Band Directors Association to outstanding band directors with less than seven years of experience in the profession.
Mr. Morgan lives in High Point, North Carolina with his wonderful wife, Katie, and sons Jack and Sawyer.
Percussion Instructor-Vincent Reed
Mr. Reed began his career in percussion instruction in 2000. A local graduate of Cummings High School, he has attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Alamance Community College. He has worked with multiple percussion programs through the years and is currently in his 10th consecutive year with Southern Alamance.
